Year 11 - Weekly Timetable

***Photography work will be will be set on CLASSCHARTS and emailed directly to the students***

Week 1

Work Set : Students will need to complete the current coursework project by the end of September. This is the ‘own choice’ project students have been working on over the Summer break.

Many students will, hopefully, finish before the deadline and can have additional time to complete the Cezanne Still-Life project, the deadline for this project will be at the beginning of January 2022.

During Week 1 student work will be assessed and a plan of action formulated. Priorities will substantially be based on how much of the Summer break priorities have been completed.

There will be weekly deadlines for each of the 4 section of the project - Initial Preparatory Work, Artists’ Research Work, Development Work, Final Piece Work. Each work work will be assessed and presented onto the ‘black sheets’ in readiness for the exhibition.

Week 2

Work Set (Initial Prep Deadline) : Students submit all Initial Preparatory Work (sketchbook and black sheet exhibition work) for final assessment. This is the final opportunity for Initial Preparatory Work to be marked.

Week 3 (19/9)

Work Set (Artists’ Research Deadline) : Students submit all Artists’ Research Work for final assessment. This is the final opportunity for Artists’ Research Work to be marked.

Week 4 (26/9)

Work Set (Development Work Deadline) : Students submit all Development Work (sketchbook and black sheet exhibition work) final assessment. This is the final opportunity for Development Work to be marked.

Week 5

Work Set (Final Piece Deadline) : Students submit the Final Piece (sketchbook and black sheet exhibition work) final assessment. This is the final opportunity for Final Piece Work to be marked.

Week 6 - ‘Still Life Project’ (Improvement Time Starts)

Work Set : During this week student Still Life Project work will be assessed and a plan of action formulated.

There will be weekly deadlines for each of the 4 section of the project - Initial Preparatory Work, Artists’ Research Work, Development Work, Final Piece Work. Each work work will be assessed and presented onto the ‘black sheets’ in readiness for the exhibition.

Week 7

Work Set : Students us this week, and also half term as opportunity to get ahead in this project. Many students will, hopefully, submit all Initial Preparatory Work (sketchbook and black sheet exhibition work) before the the break.

HALF TERM

Week 8

Work Set (Initial Prep Deadline) : Students submit all Initial Preparatory Work (sketchbook and black sheet exhibition work) for final assessment. This is the final opportunity for Initial Preparatory Work to be marked.

Week 9

Work Set (Artists’ Research Deadline) : Students submit all Artists’ Research Work for final assessment. This is the final opportunity for Artists’ Research Work to be marked.

Still Life Project - Development Work

Also students can view below the four ‘good’ examples of Development Work (sketchbook and ‘black sheet’ exhibition work) by Year 11 students from last year.

Last year, as the Examination Project was cancelled, most students completed 3 pieces of development and a Final Piece.

Week 10

Work Set (Development Work Deadline) : Students submit all Development Work (sketchbook and black sheet exhibition work) final assessment. This is the final opportunity for Development Work to be marked.

Work will also be assessed this week.

Week 11

Work Set : Student plan and draw out the Final Piece in readiness for the 10 hr Art Mock Examination next week. It is strongly advised that students start working on the Final Piece before the mock examination.


Week 12 (28/11) - Art Mock Examination

Work Set (Final Piece) : Two Days (5hrs each day - exact days TBA). Normally, the week before the main Year 11 Mock Exams students sit their 10 hr Art Mock over 2 days. Students will effectively be expected to complete a substantial amount of the Still Life Project Final Piece during the 10hrs as there will obviously be no Art lesson during mock the examination weeks. This will also allow students experience of what can be achieved in 10hrs in readiness for the final examination.

NOTE: There will be a two week period after Christmas to complete the Final Piece and sketchbook work before final assessment. However the Final Examination Paper will be available to start at the beginning of January, so it it strongly advised that students complete all work over Christmas.

Week 13 (5/12) - 1st Week of Yr 11 Mock Exams

Work Set (No Art Lessons) : No work set.

Week 14 (12/12) - 2nd Week of Yr 11 Mock Exams

Work Set (No Art Lessons) : No work set.

CHRISTMAS

Week 15 (Wednesday 4th January)

Work Set : Final Coursework project is submitted for both Fine Artists and Photographers. This then means the Coursework is complete (60% of the Final GCSE). Student will then be issued with the final Examination project paper (40% of the Final GCSE).

Week 16 (9/1)

Work Set (Initial Prep Examination Project) : Students start working on the final Examination project in readiness to complete the Final Piece in the examination (time TBA but normally the last week in April or the first week in May).

The examination project follows exactly the same format as the coursework projects.

EXAMINATION PROJECT WORK TIMETABLE

Work Set : The final Examination project timetable is published below. The Final Piece will be completed in the 10 hr/ 2 day Art Examination.

The days for the final GCSE Art are Thursday 4th and Friday 5th May, 2023.
