About sacart

The first iteration of sacart came in 1999. Back then all designing was code based and downloads and handouts were provided via the now archaic .swf file format.

In 2001 just 9% of the population had broadband and Yahoo was the top search engine. Today many of us enjoy infinitely more complex services via our phones and tablets, and some providers offer connection speeds that are nearly a thousand times faster.

When sacart first appeared video demonstrations and streaming were but a distant utopia (YouTube didn’t go live until 2005), and so were the social media services we all use such as Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook. If Mark Zuckerburg had been British he would have been sitting GCSE examinations back in 1999.

Many things have changed over the last two decades; in addition to web design and the internet, I’ve lost most of my hair and Mark Zuckerburg has nearly $74 billion in his bank account. C’est la vie.
