project 1 : sea-life

Initially in Year 3 pupils undertake a foundation course aimed to improve basics skill and develop an understanding of the requirements of GCSE. Students also gain an understanding of the nature and format of a ‘GCSE Art Project’ and also develop effective sketchbook and research skills. In the first ‘Sea Life’ project students experience a variety of materials and processes, and study chosen artists and photographers.

The four assessment objectives and project components are;

·       Artists research

·       Development

·       Final Art work

project 2 : portraiture (fine art)

For the second ‘Portraiture - Fine Art’ project students study animals and humans and combine the two using anthropomorphic, painting and mixed media techniques. Again students experience a variety of materials and processes, and study a range of chosen artists and photographers.

  • Two pieces of development work and associated sketchbook work

For the second ‘Portraiture - Photography’ project students study animals and humans and combine the two, using anthropomorphic and editing techniques. They use Adobe Photoshop, Bridge and PowerPoint to develop and present ideas. Students also study a range of chosen artists and photographers.

  • A 50 - 80 page presentation

  • Initial research work

  • 3 -5 photoshoots

  • Artists research and analysis

  • Contact sheet generated by Adobe Bridge

  • Adobe Lightroom edits in colour and black & white
